Research
Dr. Scherer sees patients for HIV primary care, hepatitis C care, and general infectious diseases consults. He is the medical director for the inpatient Infectious Diseases/General Medical Unit and for outpatient infectious diseases in the Ambulatory Care Network. He is a co-investigator on a grant focused on developing better comprehensive care for infectious diseases in people who use drugs. He is a co-investigator on several clinical trials in the Division's Columbia Collaborative Clinical Trials Unit which has been advancing the science of HIV and emerging infections like SARS-CoV-2.
